"The Bahamas in Atlanta"Art exhibition
Held at the Tyler Perry Studios, Atlanta, Georgia, April 28th 2011.
The "Bahamas in Atlanta" event which included an art exhibition was promoted by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation with special guest U.S. Ambassador to the Bahamas Nicole Avant.
At the event the painting "Sun, Sea and Love" was selected by the Bahamas Consul to be presented to Spelman College during their 2011 graduation. "The painting - Sun, Sea and Love - represents the treasures I found in relocating to the Bahamas from Brussels Belgium and formerly from Haiti "says the artist. Chantal Bethel often uses the theme of Motherhood in her work - her concern being less the institution of motherhood than the experience itself. Having been separated from her mother at an early age, she constantly looks for that feeling of reciprocity between the mother and the child.
The other painting exhibited that evening – The Grand Finale – is inspired by the Bahamas National Youth Choir.
